VAUXHALL WEBSITE TOPS WHAT VAN? SURVEY
Vauxhall’s van website crowned champion in survey of top 10 manufacturer websites
Website scores an outstanding 74% overall and climbs four places from last year
Ease of use, best dealer finder and social media commended as best features
Luton – Vauxhall has taken first place in the annual What Van? survey of the top 10 commercial vehicle
manufacturer websites for van customers.
With the best overall score of 74 per cent in the survey, Vauxhall’s van website triumphed over the
opposition, even knocking a close competitor off the top after a three-year reign. Vauxhall has honed
and polished its website, with a particularly strong effort made on social media, commented Jack
Carfrae, the What Van? journalist in charge of compiling the report.
The What Van? survey, now in its eighth year, assesses manufacturer websites against a number of
criteria, including ease of navigation, access to key information and email and live chat response times.
It was also important that the websites had converted to a neat, compact and well-designed mobile
form, now that the majority of web browsing is carried out on mobile devices.
Vauxhall’s website was praised especially for its ease of use. As well as having the entire LCV portfolio
and its models’ starting prices clearly laid out on the homepage, the brand’s website also includes an
extensive fleet section and leasing tool. The site’s simplicity and user-friendliness were ‘evidence of
attention to detail’, according to What Van?. In addition, the mobile format was commended for being
properly redesigned and all information organised in a clean, accessible and easy-to-use format.
Social media was an area in which Vauxhall was singled out for high praise. What Van? noted a positive
amount of van content on the feeds across all social media platforms. In addition, the publication was
impressed by the speed, accuracy and helpfulness of emails, phone calls and live chat. Via email, the
agent gave a thorough response within 24 hours. On a live chat, the journalist only waited a couple of
minutes while the agent checked the details and had a comprehensive answer and link to a brochure
in just five minutes.
“We are extremely proud to have been placed at the top of the What Van? website rankings,
particularly given the strong competition across the rest of the light commercial vehicle sector,” said
Patrick Fourniol, Vauxhall's Marketing Director. “Customers are central to everything that we do, so
we have ensured that our website not only caters to their needs but is also as accessible and easy-touse
as possible. What’s more, we always have our finger on the pulse with the latest industry trends.
It is for this reason that have focussed and invested so heavily on a clean, compact mobile website
and a social media feed with plenty of content relevant in the van sector.”
Vauxhall continues to gain praise in the commercial vehicle sector. Most recently, the Combo Cargo
was named Best Small Van at the Parkers New Car Awards 2020, and the same model was also
recognised as Small Van of the Year at the Commercial Fleet Awards.
