Scottish Vauxhall had the pleasure of hosting a “Meet The Racing Legends” night in a packed showroom at our Autovision Inverness branch.

We had an exclusive and enjoyable evening with the motorcycling stars - John McGuinness, 23 times Isle Of Man TT winner, Ron Haslam, 4 times world champion and his son Leon Haslam, an up and coming name in British Superbikes racing.

Moray Firth Radio kindly provided our MC for the night in Dan Gilchrist who did an excellent job in keeping the event flowing and the crowd entertained. Well done and thanks again Dan!!

The night proved to be a complete success. Over 350 motor bike enthusiasts from all over the North Of Scotland, braved the Highland weather to hear the 'Legends' tell their interesting and some humorous stories from the track and off track. They were eager answering questions from the fans. There were also giveaway prizes to some lucky fans who either answered or asked a question.

A video of John completing a race lap of the Isle of Man TT was played, while he talked his way round through gear changes, line positioning and his favourite sections. John often had the audience in stitches of laughter with his various anecdotes and gossip.

Ron, who with his wife Ann, now run the highly successful Ron Haslam Race School in Derbyshire spoke of his time on the circuit and also his passion for flying aeroplanes.

Leon nicknamed the Pocket Rocket spoke of progression from Motocross through to his hopes for the 2017 British Superbike Championship riding for the Bournemouth Kawasaki Team. We all wish Leon the best of luck!

The 'Legends' then rounded off the evening signing autographs and getting selfies with the fans who patiently queued to meet their idols.

This evening was a first for scottishvauxhall in bringing the Racing Legends to the Highland for the first time. Our grateful thanks goes to Gordon Hannen, Vauxhall Motors Regional Operations Manager for Scotland, Northern Ireland and Isle Of Man for his valuable assistance in making this evening possible and a success.

A raffle was held with all proceeds going to Moray Firth Radio Cash For Kids and over £1700 was raised for this worthy cause. Many thanks to all who purchased their raffle tickets.

First prize, donated by Scottish Vauxhall, was a Limited Edition NorthWest 200 Helmet autographed by all “The Legends”. The lucky winner of this prodigious prize was Craig Gibson from Buckie Congratulations Craig, I’m sure all his friends would be envious.

We are thankful to all the staff of scottishvauxhall and those who helped make this event such a success, not least the Legends, John, Ron and Leon. We all hope that everyone who made it at the event had a great night.

Please remember for all those who attended the event that they are eligible for £500 discount or free metallic paint on any new car ordered and registered prior to 30th June 2017.
